[ARCHIVED] Open Space Referendum Results

NF Public Notice

The unofficial results reported by Chester County Voter Services indicate that Uwchlan Township residents voted in favor of introducing an Open Space Tax during yesterday’s referendum.

The results expect to be certified by November 25, 2024 by the County Board of Elections.

What this means for residents

Once the result has been certified, the Township will work to introduce the Open Space Tax.

From January 1, 2025, the Earned Income Tax (EIT) rate will increase by 0.25%, from 1.0% to 1.25%. This will be paid by Township residents only. Retirees and unemployed residents would be exempt.

The tax is estimated to raise approximately $2.5 - $3.0 million each year. These funds will be allocated towards acquisition and conservation of open space, and maintenance and development of existing acquired lands.
