COVID-19 Update: Eagle Disposal New Trash & Recycling Pickup Regulations

Eagle Disposal has provided the Township with the following regulations for Trash and Recycling pickup that started on Monday 3/30 and will continue until further notice.

  • All trash must be bagged and tied. Loose items will be not be collected;
  • All recyclable materials must be placed inside your recycling container, including your flattened cardboard.
  • Recyclable items left outside of your recycling container will not be collected;
  • Yard waste and bulk item collection has resumed as of May 9th.

These changes are to protect sanitation workers and the community from further spread of COVID-19. The Township will continue to update our webpage  www.uwchlan.com  with any updates regarding yard waste pickup dates, bulk and mattress pickups, as well as regulations implemented by Eagle Disposal for trash and recycling pickup. Click Here for more updates related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Uwchlan Trash & Recycling Program

Eagle Disposal is the residential hauler for trash and recycling.  Click here to access an informational flyer. To see when your trash day is please click Street Pickup Schedule on the left of the page. Should you have any questions, the customer service number is 717-355-9560. Uwchlan Township is committed to resolving any reasonable problems with the trash & recycling service, so please feel free to call our office if you need further help.

All trash and recycling must be curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your pick-up day regardless of what time the drivers actually come. It is recommended that you put all trash & recycling out the night before. Please note, trash and recycling should NEVER be placed in the street for pickup.

The cans/bags of household waste must weigh no more than fifty (50) pounds each. Trash should not be dumped loosely into a trash can, as it will spill out if the can falls over. Please make sure to enclose all trash in a sealed bag before placing into the trash can. Trash containers should also have a lid. When preparing your recycling, please rinse all food and drink containers thoroughly and remember LIDS and Caps are NOT recyclable. Please refer to the acceptable and non-acceptable recyclables list. In addition to the household waste, you are allowed one bulk item each week.

The Chester County landfill charges $25 per item (starting on 1/1/2020)  for disposal of mattresses and box springs. Those who place mattresses and/or box springs curbside will see that charge on their trash bill. If you place both a mattress and box spring curbside, the charge will be $50. We strongly encourage people to have the company that sells them a new mattress and box spring take their old one. These companies are usually set up to recycle these. Mattresses are difficult to dispose of in the landfill. They take up a lot of space and are not very compressible. *PLEASE call to schedule a pickup 610-363-9450.
