[ARCHIVED] Sunoco Update: 16" pipe Pull Back Process to Begin April 25th

Sunoco has advised Uwchlan Township that their contractor will begin the pull back of the 16" pipe as early as Thursday, April 25th. The work area will be from the Whitford drill site (adjacent to Crump Road) to Devon Drive (nearest intersection - Colonial Drive). Sunoco will only be pulling back the 16" pipe at this time (no dual-pipe pullback). No timing has been set for the start of work on the second pipe (20"), as a new drill hole will need to be created. Sunoco has informed Uwchlan Township that this pull back operation of the 16" pipe is estimated to take 20-days to complete. This is an estimate only as there are many factors that could delay the work.

Devon Drive will remain open for daily traffic, but please expect short term duration lane closures for the construction activities. It is recommended that you avoid this area for daily traffic, if feasible. Devon Drive traffic impacts will follow PennDOT standards for traffic control and short-term closures. It is the Township's understanding that no changes to the school bus traffic and bus stop locations are proposed to occur at this time. If any changes are proposed, that information will be relayed to the affected parties by the School District.

Uwchlan Township has not issued any approvals for variances to the Chapter 166 - Uwchlan Township Noise Control Ordinance. The ordinance requires that construction activities are not permitted to occur after 7:00 (or 30 minutes after sunset, whichever is earlier) pm from Monday to Saturday and no work is permitted on Sunday. Due to the nature of the work, Sunoco will have contractor representatives onsite overnight for monitoring and safety purposes.
