[ARCHIVED] Uwchlan Township Awarded Stormwater Grant from PA DEP

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has selected 3 stormwater projects in Uwchlan Township to receive grant funding from the historic $12.6 million penalty assessed to Sunoco for violations related to the Mariner East 2 pipeline project. In February of 2018, the PA DEP collected the $12.6 million penalty due to numerous violations along the Mariner East 2 pipeline. The PA DEP officially began accepting grant applications in April of 2018. Grants were awarded for stormwater management, invasive species removal, forest restoration, farm runoff reduction, streambank restoration, and many other projects that ultimately improve water quality in Pennsylvania.

The selected projects in Uwchlan Township include the following:

$117,324 for urban stormwater management that will reduce impacts to an impaired tributary to Shamona Creek.
$123,824 for urban stormwater management that will reduce runoff pollution into a tributary of the East Branch of Brandywine Creek.
$99,401 for urban stormwater management to reduce runoff pollution to a tributary to Valley Creek.
